Getting Involved with Ngāpeke Permaculture

We always welcome new friends to come and get involved at Ngāpeke Permaculture. The dream back in 2019 was a food forest and so the journey began. It turns out though that the project has become much more. With the help of Rina Walker a certified permaculture consultant and many many helpers and volunteers over the years, the Trustees’ dream for the land materialised into a pretty awe-inspiring community project!

Local Volunteers

If you are local and keen to get involved for a couple of hours, the best way is to just turn up on a Thursday. The day-to-day tasks include working in the gardens or māra kai, plant nurseries, native areas and so on. The day starts at 10:am and finishes with a shared lunch.

Groups of 5 or more Volunteers

Alternatively, if you are a community group, educational group or business group of 5 or more people, looking for volunteer opportunities, contact us here to arrange a date and time specifically for your group.

You can also help yourself to fresh produce growing in our gardens and the food-forest, as well as food items from our well stocked freezer and pantry. Volunteers Rock!

We can’t say enough about the volunteers who come to help out on our project. We appreciate you all so much! We certainly would not have achieved all that we have, if it wasn’t for the generosity of folk like you.
