Stallholder Application

Before you complete this application please take the time to find out what you are getting yourself
into!

We are always on the look-out for new and interesting artisan stallholders who support the Kākāriki Market kaupapa. Kākāriki translates to ‘green’. Ngapeke Kākāriki Markets are for producers using sustainable growing systems and practices, with a focus on product that has not been subjected to synthetic chemicals.

Those who make it well, grow it well, produce it well and are close to home are a priority. Although we look after our regular and long-time hard working stallholders we want the market to celebrate the diverse community we are surrounded by so invite you to join us if you would like to become part of the Kākāriki Market community.

Whether you are just experimenting or well established we would love to hear from you.

WHAT KIND OF STALLHOLDER ARE YOU?

Produce, food, craft, plants? Please make sure you tick the right box in the application form.

THE GROWER or FOOD ARTISAN IS THE PRODUCER

The majority of our stallholders are the producers or growers of their products but we do allow for a very small number of on sellers if they offer a point of difference that compliments the market.

WHAT CAN YOU SELL?

This is akin to a farmers market not a carny or boot sale or an opportunity to sell as part of a franchise or a place to dump excess items. The market is striving to build an excellent reputation amongst markets with a point of difference being observance of tikanga Māori and Matauranga Māori. We are also aiming for high quality of the stallholders. So you or someone close to you should have made whatever you want to sell. If you are selling on anything, ie you did not make it; you have to declare this on the application form. If you are simply selling something as part of a franchise please do not apply, this market is not for you. Preference is given to:

  1. Good quality food
  2. Practical crafts
  3. Plats
  4. Beautiful decorative handmade artisan products with a point of difference

THE MARKETS CREDIBILITY AND YOURS.

We like food stallholders who are GE Free, practice eco agricultural techniques in their growing and production of foods and excellent husbandry skills when farming animals. We are also wishing to restrict the use of plastic. The less plastic you use and the less processed your ingredients, the better your artisan product is.

If you want to use the term Organic then you must be Certified Organic and provide us with your certification certificate.

If you raise and farm animals to later sell in some form at the market we prefer our stallholders to have the SPCA tick of accreditation to show that you practice their standards of animal husbandry.

CRAFTS

Yes we do have crafts. There is a strict application process to ensure top quality at the market. We prefer handmade, bespoke, traditional methods of production and practical crafts. We love plants and garden related things.
